In Last Call — First Round!, Ursula used a H2o Stone and a Fire Rock during the Operation Stage of the Sinnoh Grand Festival to evolve her ii Eevee, evolving them into a Vaporeon and Flareon, respectively.

Mystery on a Deserted Island! featured the Water Stone along with all of the other Evolution stones available as of Generation V.

A full set of Evolution stones was seen on display in a stone shop in Geosenge Town in The Cave of Trials!.

In On Land, In the Sea, and to the Futurity!, Chloe received a H2o Stone from Kiley. She asked her Eevee if she wanted to employ it, but she decided not to evolve notwithstanding. Misty hoped to buy a Water Rock for her Poliwhirl in Rock Boondocks, a boondocks on Dream Isle where all the Evolution stones in the Pokémon earth come from. Still, she couldn't afford i, remarking that an cheap one might make the evolution go bad.

Misty was afterward given a Water Rock by Mikey, who was being pressured to join the "Knights of the Due east Stone", a club which requires members to own a Pokémon evolved past an Evolution stone.

Pokémon Adventures

Ruddy, Green & Blueish chapter

In Buzz Off, Electabuzz!, Reddish's Poliwhirl was able to evolve into a Poliwrath with the help of a H2o Stone when they were thrown into the water in Vermilion Harbor, although the crusade of his evolution wasn't revealed until the Yellowish chapter.

Yellow chapter

In The Kindest Tentacruel, the Pokémon Fan Club Chairman told Xanthous about a legend of an underwater dome at the bottom of Vermilion Harbor, housing a set of Evolution stones which, dissimilar normal stones, did not disappear after making a Pokémon evolve, allowing them to exist used repeatedly. The crusade of Red's Poliwhirl's evolution had been i of these said stones, proving the legend to exist true. Xanthous was later led to the dome by a wild Tentacruel, finding a Leaf Rock in it, but the Burn down, Thunder, and Water Stones were missing. Later, information technology was revealed that Giovanni had given them to Red and so he could freely evolve and devolve his Eevee.

Trivia

  • Through a glitch in the Generation I games, Pokémon that would normally require an Evolution rock to evolve can be evolved without it, provided that the Pokémon levels up in the boxing and the player has sent out a specific Pokémon in the same battle. In the case of the Water Rock, this Pokémon is Onix.
  • In Pokémon: Let'due south Go, Eevee!, if the player tries to give their partner Eevee a Water Stone, they will not accept it, and therefore, will not evolve. The same affair will happen if the player attempts to give them a Fire Stone or a Thunder Rock.
